LANGUAGE SITUATION IN DAGESTAN: HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT

The Dagestan lingual situation is a sociolinguistic phenomenon historically developed according to its laws, and the political and administrative borders practically did not have a significant impact on it. The lingual situation in Dagestan since the XVI-XVII centuries to the beginning of the thirties of the XX century remained in the main stable. However, with the emergence of writing in certain Dagestan languages and the expansion of the use of literary languages, the increase in the functions of the Arabic language and regional languages of international communication, the situation gradually became more complex and varied in its quantitative and qualitative parameters.
