Г. Ц. ЦЫБИКОВ И РАЗВИТИЕ ТИБЕТОЛОГИИ В РОССИИ В НАЧАЛЕ ХХ ВЕКА

В статье раскрывается вклад Г. Ц. Цыбикова в развитие монголоведения и тибетологии в России, его востребованность в научном сообществе и правящих структурах в условиях геополитического соперничества между Британской и Российской империями в Центральной Азии. В этой связи его личности придается весьма важное значение. Первый ученый, побывавший в то время в Центральном Тибете и Лхасе, изучивший культуру, быт, язык и нравы тибетцев – он открыл эту страну для всего научного мира. Кроме этого, Г. Ц. Цыбиков был и политологом, прекрасно разбирающимся в международной обстановке. Он призывал относиться к народам Востока (монголам, тибетцам, маньчжурам и др.) на принципах справедливости и уважения к их правам. В статье приводятся цитаты из воспоминаний и писем его коллег, которые характеризуют его как незаурядного, талантливого педагога-просветителя.
TS. TSYBIKOV AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF TIBETAN STUDIES IN RUSSIA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 20TH CENTURY

In this article, the contribution of the G. Ts. Tsybikov to the development of Tibetan studies in Russia is revealed, including his relevance in the scientific community and governing structures in the context of geopolitical rivalry between the British and Russian empires. In this regard, the personality of G. Ts. Tsybikov was important. The first scientist who visited Central Tibet and Lhasa, he studied culture, life, language and customs of the Tibetans and opened this country to the entire scientific world. In addition, G. Ts. Tsybikov was also a political scientist, well versed in the international situation. He called for treating the peoples of the East (Manchus, Mongols, Tibetan, etc.) on the principles of the fairness and respect for their rights. The author cites interesting passages from the memoirs and letters of his colleagues which characterize G. Ts. Tsybikov as an outstanding and talented educator.
