Статья посвящена вкладу С. П. Балдаева в изучение бурятских исторических преданий и песен. Собрав беспрецедентную по числу текстов коллекцию записей исторического фольклора, он заложил основы для дальнейшего его научного осмысления. В неопубликованном сборнике «Мифы, легенды и предания бурят» ученый представил первый опыт систематизации бурятской несказочной прозы, в том числе исторических преданий. В серии работ о бурятских исторических песнях он систематизировал практически все известные песни на основе хронологии описанных в них событий, выстроив их в целостный исторический нарратив. Немаловажно, что работах С. П. Балдаева отразились специфические черты советской бурятской фольклористики: особый подход к интерпретации фольклора, основанный на марксистско-ленинской концепции истории и идеологии советского государства, оценочное и избирательное отношение к фольклорным текстам в зависимости от их соответствия требованиям официальной идеологии.
HISTORICAL FOLKLORE IN THE RESEARCH WORKS OF S. P. BALDAEV

The article is devoted to the contribution of S. P. Baldaev to the study of Buryat historical legends and songs. Having gathered a collection of historical folklore records, unprecedented in the number of texts, he laid the foundations for its further scientific understanding. In the unpublished collection «Myths, Legends and Stories of the Buryats», the scientist presented the first experience of systematizing Buryat non-fairy prose, including historical legends. In a series of works on Buryat historical songs, he systematized almost all known songs based on the chronology of the events described in them, building them into a coherent historical narrative. It is important that the works of S. P. Baldaev reflected the specific features of Soviet Buryat folklore studies: a special approach to the interpretation of folklore, based on the Marxist-Leninist concept of history and ideology of the Soviet state, an evaluative and selective attitude to folklore texts depending on their compliance with the requirements of official ideology.
