The article is dedicated to the scientist Mikhail Petrovich Khomanov. His activities as a scientist are briefly assessed. Particular attention is paid to Mikhail Petrovich as a defender of the Motherland during the difficult years of the Great Patriotic War, and Khomanovʼs correspondence with his fellow soldiers about the military events of that time is given.
